You are the ultimate decider, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.
Did you know that you need specific legal agreements on your blog? A blogging website is not protected without these 3 pages. Most importantly, your content could be at risk as well. That is where having the right legal information on your site protects you from any potential lawsuit to you or your business so you can blog legally.
Let’s be honest, I had NO IDEA how to legally protect my blog. It wasn’t until I started doing research on blogging that I came across Amira from A Self Guru, who is a lawyer who knows EXACTLY what bloggers need to protect their website. After reading through her story and what other creators have shared, I knew that my website would be safe and I would not be sucked into a legal blackhole.
Since I was a kid getting in trouble has always scared me. Whether it was the scolding, time-outs, or verbal abuse, I never got through the consequences without balling into tears. As you can see, getting in trouble was not a part of my personality. I didn’t know how to handle the immense guilt or shame that came with trouble. Instead of doing something wrong, I took caution and said no to so many choices because I didn’t want the repercussions.
That fear almost prevented me from starting a blog in the first place. I didn’t know what it took to build a website at first. Over a year into this idea, and with countless research, I can finally say that I am confident over my decision to blog knowing that I have the right paperwork to prove this site is following the legal procedures .
I really cannot thank Amira from A Self Guru enough! She has, whether she knows it or not, lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. The air feels lighter and the sunshine is brighter!...too much? I’ve been told I can get dramatic, but hey! I’m not wrong.

Privacy Policy
This is the legal statement that your site needs to tell your visitors and/or users that you are collecting and using their personal information. There is no way around this. As a blogger/creator/entrepreneur/etc. you are required by law to disclose this information to your visitors and/or users; it is only fair. When you are gaining access to your visitor’s personal information that identifies who they are and what they are about, that falls into a legal hole. A privacy policy is mandatory to let your visitors know what access you are getting and what you plan to do with that information.
Everyone has to have a Privacy Policy. From small bloggers to big corporations, having a privacy policy is required for every website. This is to comply with the privacy laws and protect themselves from any potential lawsuits.

Disclaimer/Disclosure
On your website you need a legal page to limit your legal liability and to avoid any messy lawsuits. That’s what the Disclaimer/Disclosure statement is for. When you don’t have this legal statement in place, your website may be in a position of a lawsuit if a visitor shows dissatisfaction from the information you provided. This is definitely needed to blog legally.
As bloggers, we share our opinions and thoughts on a topic we may be covering on a blog post. If it occurs, someone might state that they did not approve with your opinions and thoughts, thus leading you towards a lawsuit. This can happen anytime you share an affiliate recommendation, promoting your product, or simply giving your honest advice on a subject.
Speaking of affiliates, you need to have an affiliate disclosure in your statements. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that you disclose your affiliate relationships, sponsorships, and commissions and/or incentives you may get when someone clicks on your advertising and purchases that affiliate.

Terms and Conditions
This powerhouse of a legal statement is meant to protect you from any potential lawsuits that may come your way. It is the legal contract between you and your visitors. The Terms and Conditions statements are your website rules. This means that you can decide what you permit on your site and what you don’t permit.
This is where your visitors can learn about your intellectual property rights to your content, as well as the protection the Terms and Conditions has over copyright infringement and other legal disputes. As the owner and creator of the site, this legal statement allows you the right to terminate anyone's use of your website based on your decision. So if there is someone lurking through that you are suspecting is stealing from you, then the Terms and Conditions have your back.
If you are promoting and selling your own products, take a listen to this! The Terms and Conditions statement will share your refund/exchange policies for the products and services you offer on your website. When you place anything up for sale that is your own creation, rest easy knowing that the Terms and Conditions will have your refund/exchange policies listed for anyone wanting to read them.
